I am interested in using Code Academy to get a strong foundation in javascript, jquery and API’s.
Rather than start directly at these modules I forced myself to work through the complete Web development course and started with base HTML and CSS courses. I have been familiar with both for years, but I mostly have read and tweaked existing templates and themes rather than design from scratch.
This has simply been the efficient choice when content development and marketing tends to be the activities that actually return my time investment financially.
I am impressed by the CodeAcademy platform’s ability to force me to pay attention to details and get a fuller understanding of hierarchies.
I will have to continue this manner of study.
Note: Acquire some Posters that show:
CSS Box Models, Document Trees and Visual Formatting Models to further pound these concepts in.
These seem to be helping me understand the DOM model concepts being introduced to me with the jquery modules.
