Ive always been a fan of HubSpot.
Its never groundbreaking but they do have a knack for presenting SEO and Marketing concepts in a snack size way that seems more effective with traditional business clients and “normals”
Had planned on taking their “Inbound Marketing Course,” as part of my 2013 enrichment plan, but after glancing at the course materials I made the modest declaration that I could easily teach every module they have outlined and have been crushing those concepts for half a decade.
Yes, modest.
So, I just skipped straight to the test and gave it a quick run through.
Regardless of how it ends up being scored, I would say that based on the test questions – the best use of that Inbound Marketing Certification course would be to train your secretary or administrative staff to run some basic campaigns for you.
I will report back in 3 days. Perhaps, their will be some ancillary benefits to the course and certification that I cant imagine, but I think they just created a clever way to get budding marketers to post a vanity certification that in turn promotes the HubSpot product.
Update – 1 Week later
I never received any email notifications, so I logged into the account to see if there were any clues within and I did discover that I passed the test and am a “Certified Inbound Marketing Specialist”
Groovy, but it was a rather elementary test so I hold to my original assessment. I wouldn’t significantly base any hiring on someone holding onto this vanity certification but I would utilize the training course and exam to make sure my administrative staff, interns or new hires understand the general principle necessary to manage non-essential elements of your online campaigns.
